Your Personal Data
Mair Atkins will be what is known as the ‘Controller’ of the personal data you provide to us. I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
What data is needed
Unless otherwise agreed with you, only basic personal data about you (and your child, if your child is the pupil) will be collected in order to provide the service you have requested.
Website enquiries
Name, email address and phone number are collected via the contact form in order only to supply you with more information about services you have enquired about and to answer any queries.
Social media enquiries
When you message Mair Atkins Piano on Facebook your social media identity is displayed only to supply you with more information about services you have enquired about and to answer any queries.
Phone and text enquiries
When you call or text Mair Atkins Piano your phone number is displayed unless you have chosen to block this. This will be used only to supply you with more information about services you have enquired about and to answer any queries.
Waiting List
When you ask to be kept on a waiting list your name, email address and phone number will be stored on hard copy in order to contact you when there is a vacancy.
Student Registration Form and Learning Records
New students complete a paper registration form recording name, home address, email address, phone number, your child’s name and date of birth (if relevant) and any previous musical experience.
Permission is also requested to take photos/videos which may be used for professional development purposes and/or celebrating success in newsletters and on the website. Records of learning and progression will also be maintained.
Why the data is needed
If you register as a student personal information is used to provide tuition, to maintain accounts and learning records and to keep you up to date with news, teaching dates and progression in learning. In addition permission is requested for the use of photos within newsletters and websites and videos for the purposes of professional development. I will not collect any personal data from you that is not needed.
What I do with the data
All the personal data held about you will be processed by me. Some information may also be shared with the following third party organisations: Examination boards and music educators (where relevant).
No other third parties will have access to your personal data unless there is a legal obligation to provide it. I will take all reasonable steps to ensure that your personal data is processed securely.
How long your data is kept
If you ( or your child) do not register as a student or agree to be held on a waiting list any personal information obtained through enquiries will be deleted after one month. On registering as a student your information will be held for up to 6 years after you cease to be a student. After this time it will be destroyed if it is no longer required for the lawful purpose(s) for which it was obtained.
Opt-in
You have the right to refuse consent and the right to withdraw any personal data held about you at any time. If you wish to withdraw the data held, please contact me and the data will be removed as soon as possible.
