I started playing the piano when I was 7 and later through a music scholarship at school, achieved Grade 8 (ABRSM) aged 16 and experienced many opportunities to perform and accompany. I went on to gain the Advanced Certificate in Piano (ABRSM) in my thirties whilst six months pregnant with my second child!
After a 17 year career in adult education and family learning which involved working with adults, teenagers and families with very diverse needs, I have returned to my first love and now teach the piano privately. I am a member of a professional development organisation for piano teachers called The Curious Piano Teachers.
Over the years I have accompanied for a ballet class, scout and guide Gang Shows, local choirs and instrumentalists and am now a keen member of The Oxford Piano Group. You will also find me singing in the Three Rivers Community Choir and taking part in their concerts twice a year.
I am a full professional member of the European Piano Teachers Association and follow their safeguarding code of conduct.
My qualifications are:
Post Graduate Certificate in Education (post 16)
Advanced Certificate in Piano (ABRSM)
Grade 8 Piano (ABRSM)
Level 4 Certificate in Teaching Learners with Dyslexia
I have an enhanced DBS certificate, hold public liability insurance and have completed a Child Protection in Education (Music) course.
